ASBOx
Northern Edition
My back-pack-mounted stereo "ASBOx - Northern Edition" was inspired by the sound crew of the Londonskate who have built several of these beasts which are connected by radio transmitters to allow music throughout the streetskates which take place every (dry) wedensday night during the summer. My friend Stevie B (Co-creator of the ASBOx and head of the sound crew; also one of the longest serving DJ's at Canvas' twice weekly roller disco) was very helpful in providing me with the technical know-how for the project and a big thanks is due in his direction. Stevie, if you can hear me, Thank You!
The ASBOx uses car stereo parts, the battery from a mobility scooter and can accept inputs from a range of sources (usually my Ipod) resulting in a LOUD but portable stereo which I use mainly for my dancing up in Hyde Park (Leeds). The total build cost was under £150 and took around one month in total to complete (working only really on it on my days off from work... It wasn't really a month's worth of work, but I like to take my time with these things to get them right!)
